Jackie is an exquisite rider with a stunning seat and sympathetic hands and has ridden horses from every level from breaking in through the Grand Prix. Jackie teaches horses and their riders the correct foundation so they can move up the levels and have fun doing it. Jackie and her students are regular competitors at local dressage shows and judge their success by their improvement but also by the fun of the experience. Jackie is extremely detail oriented; she works diligently with her human and equine students to create an educated team that can train and compete in joy and harmony. It is Jackie’s goal to create horses who are straight, though, responsive and happy in their work and to make sure her riders improve daily. All of Jackie’s horses and students are comfortable in the arena and on the trails, all enjoy turnouts as well as time in their stalls. In addition to learning how to ride in a beautiful and sympathetic way, Jackie’s students learn first class horse care. Jackie has spent her life training horses; she is the rider to whom other trainers send their horses. From her childhood in the Thousand Oaks area, through her college days at Meredith Manor (where she earned a Level II teaching certificate and completed both the Advanced Farrier Sciences Program and the Riding Master VI Program), through her time training young horses in Holland, and continuing through her work over the past 7 years with Christine Traurig, Jackie is always learning and always teaching. Verena began her career in her native Germany, then moved to Canada. She spent 4 years as first rider and stable manager in the Netherlands for Bert Rutten, Olympic rider/trainer and Chef d’Equipe of the Dutch Olympic team. She competed at many national competitions, including showing four of Mr. Rutten’s four-year olds in The Pavo Cup (young horse selection trials) in the Netherlands.

Verena trains with Juan Matute when he clinics in California, and also trains with Steffen Peters. She is currently campaigning her DUtch Warmblood Unity at Intermediare I, and has a selection of young horses that will be making their show debuts in 2012. Verena is a USDF Bronze and Silver medalist. She trains students up to Grand Prix level and competes for VS Dressage Inc. at Whitethorne Ranch in Somis, CA.... See More

She has worked through the USDF dressage Instructors workshops with Major Anders Lindren, trained with Walter Zettl, and worked extensively with Manolo Mendez.
