Horseback Riding

We offer lessons for riders interested in Hunter/Jumpers or Western Pleasure and now offering Ranch Horse training. Students are encouraged to go to monthly horse shows with our show team. Horses are available to lesson on or boarding is available so you can lesson on your own horse. Private and semi private lessons are offered to students. We treat both horse and rider with respect and patience. Taking all participants into consideration. We enjoy problem solving and improving the communication between the rider and their equine partner. Leasing and sales are also available. My true passion is with beginners, to bring them into the equine community so they may learn responsibility, respect for animals, promote physical and emotional well being, as well as having lots of fun. We am by no means limited to beginners as we love bringing the more advanced students to shows to show off their talents and learn where to improve upon. Students of all ages accepted. Full and partial boarding options available. Walking distance to Helen Howard and Tingler Park. We attend shows regularly and have barn group trail rides. All disciplines welcome! I offer instruction in classical dressage-based horsemanship for any level of rider. My methods are based on 'Old World' military horsemanship that takes the techniques of training horses for jousting, mounted archery, mounted combat, etc. and adapts them to practical horsemanship. These methods are rooted in centuries of study in the nature and biomechanical interplay between horse and rider, handed down from master to student, throughout most of recorded history. No force or coercion is used in this style of training, but rather the goal is trust and forming a partnership, conditioning and making the horse supple, with the goal of improving their ability to carry the rider, athletically, for many happy years. If this sounds like the better aspects of what is now called "Natural Horsemanship, well the classical masters had a name for it, they called it "Horsemanship". :)

We offer hour long beginner horseback trail rides on our scenic 90 acre property and hour and half long intermediate/advanced trail rides to those with previous riding experience looking for more of a challenge. Hoofbeats in Harmony's Horsemanship Academy is one of a kind! All students entering the program start at Level 1 and graduate after Level 10. Students progress through the levels at their own speed, earning achievement awards when they level up. Each level is divided into 6 categories: Horse Care – Riding – Ground Work – Liberty Training – Physical Fitness – Equine Literature. It is necessary for the student to pass the required tasks in all 6 categories of horsemanship in order move up a level.

When students pass a level, they will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and a patch unique to the level passed that will go on their Hoofbeats in Harmony vest. Students are encouraged to wear their vests to their lessons to showcase their accomplishments.

Over 35 years' experience in the equestrian industry, 14 years as a professional. I believe that riding should be fun and safe. I was taught by many wonderful trainers like; Berry Lane, Linda Allen, Daniel Geitner, and more. My focus is to ensure the rider has a strong and balanced leg, seat, and upper body. I believe a jump is simply a jump, it's how you ride between the jumps that matter.
I teach based on how each rider learns. I understand that every rider learns at their own pace, and I structure each lesson according to the rider's needs. I will not over face a rider, but I do ask a rider to step out of their comfort zone periodically, in a safe and understanding manor. I ask the riders to challenge themselves, not me forcing them.

I only offer private or semi private lessons. However, in the beginning I want a rider in a private setting so I can understand them and the rider can learn how I teach. Beginner riders are only private lessons, for their safety.
