I teach basic horseback riding, safety and horsemanship with good solid horse skills, along with horse care for those with the goal of horse ownership. My goal is for my students to learn the proper way to behave around horses, how to care for them, how to ride and why things are done they way they are; and to become accomplished, competent and independent trail riders. My lessons are generally one on one private lessons, although I do have a couple group lesson with a few of the more advanced students. I teach ages 6 through adult and I have MANY referrals should you want to talk with past or present students. I have gaited and non gaited horses. Our mission is to support self-growth, promote inclusivity and build a connection within the community through animal-assisted activities designed to improve cognitive, social, emotional, and physical functioning. Our program is open to people of any ages and any ability, but our priority goes to those looking for a therapeutic environment. We do not focus on competition and our program participants have a large part in designing their horsemanship journey. Marilyn Austin, giving riding instruction at Chastain Horse Park, in Atlanta, Ga offers lessons to children and adults, beginner to advanced riders are welcome. Certified by the British Horse Society, Marilyn has taught professionally for over 30 years in the Metro Atlanta area. Her foundation for instruction came from an elite riding school SW of London, but years of teaching has provided experience in many types of lesson environments, with multiple riding disciplines. Extensive work with Special Olympics over the years, and working with 4-H, Marilyn enjoys the process of helping riders develop skills, and focuses on education about horsemanship, safety, and teaching all riders to appreciate the horse or pony. Positive reinforcment, and a proven method of learning from the ground up has helped many students over the years become accomplished equestrians, many of whom now continue to ride as adults,and continue to be involved with the horse industry.
When Marilyn joined the team of instructors at Chastain Horse Park, she then acquired certification from NARHA, which enhanced her previous equine education, and qualified her to safely teach and supervise riding for children and adults with special needs.

Individual Lessons - $50 per hour: Our one-on-one lessons are designed to provide personalized instruction to riders who prefer

Group Lessons (4 or more persons) - $35 per person per hour: If you prefer a social and collaborative learning environment, our
group lessons are perfect for you. These lessons are conducted in a small group setting of four or more riders, allowing for peer
interaction and learning from one another, while still receiving individualized instruction from our skilled instructors.

Our Lessons Include:
Instruction on basic horsemanship, including grooming, tacking, and handling

This is the most common response I receive from owner's. At Säker, our mission is simple, no really simple, as in "KISS" (Keep It Surprisingly Simple).

As a student of Säker, you focus on this fundamental principle, "KISS". Why you ask, well I say why not! Most people, especially women (and the horse industry is 2/3rds women), tend to overthink what they consider to be "problems" with their horse. So our mission at Säker is to break down this communication barrier with "KISS". We explain that horse training is 90% common sense (i.e. "Do I really want my horse to do this?"), and 10% know-how ("No, so I will do this instead."). We focus on removing the "emotion factor" (No, your horse is not attempting to drive you mad, well, most of the time.).
