Ashley Kriegel is an instructor new to the area and she is currently a working student for world-renowned eventer Holly Hudspeth. Ashley specializes in eventing and currently competes at the Intermediate level with her own horse. She is an HB graduate of Pony Club and has been teaching and training horses since she was 15. I instruct riding lessons in Hunter/Jumpers and Eventing up to Beginner/Novice. I also teach the basics of riding and horse care for anyone curious about horses. I am fully capable and able to teach students ranging from beginners up to intermediate riders. Most instruction will take place at Rolling Hill Ranch on Marks Road; a very safe and secure location for riding. I have over two years of experience in preparing students for various level of horse showing and I have been participating in competition riding for 12 years. Bright Star Stables is a non-profit therapeutic riding center. The program serves both the physically and mentally disable communities. Bright Star Stables offers therapeutic riding lessons, hippotherapy, and the opportunity for compete in equine events. Students will be taught equine care, riding, handling, and management to their best level of ability. Students will also be involved to the level of their ability, skill, and interest in competition and training horses.

Therapeutic lessons are conducted at a NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association) certified facility located in Rougemont, NC. These lessons teach individuals horsemanship skills which allow them to potentially compete in locally and nationally recognized horse events in both Western riding, as well as English riding disciplines. At Shea Rose Farm, faithfully serving the Marvin/Waxhaw area for 30 years, we strive to provide a comprehensive equestrian program to develop confidence, competence, and compassion in our students. Our lessons include ring and trail riding, jumping, dressage, driving, drill team, vaulting (gymnastics on horses- our competitive vaulting team is NC first team, started 25 years ago), ground work, and games. We take trips with our horses to the mountains, beach, and even fox hunting in Aiken. Lisa Abernathy will provide quality instruction for beginner through advanced riders in English and Western, or on Gaited Horses.

All Lessons last approximately 1 hour. Private Lessons are $45 and Group Lessons are $35. Cash or Check is accepted. The first lesson is always private so that I can evaluate the riders skill and select an appropriate horse. Once the rider demonstrates proper balance, posture, and riding aides at the walk and trot they may move to a group lesson if available.

Abernathy Farm's lessons are geared toward preparing you for horse ownership. We will teach you how to safely catch, groom, and tack up your horse, in addition to the fundamentals of riding. Abernathy Farm offers adult and youth lessons for ages age 5 and up. Private or Group lessons can also be scheduled. Group lessons consist of 2 to 4 riders. This is perfect for friends, siblings, or parents and children who want to learn how to ride together.
