Welcome to Merkel Farms, a family owned and operated equestrian center run by Stephanie Serenati-Merkel. Merkel Farm is nestled between Bowie State University and the Patuxent Wildlife Preserve in Bowie, MD and is within easy reach from the Washington D.C., Annapolis and Baltimore metro areas. We have miles of trails surrounding the property. We also have a lighted indoor and outdoor ring which allows for boarders and lesson students to ride year round. We have two barns and two separately fenced fields for turnout. The outdoor and indoor rings are dragged throughout the year to maintain optimal footing for horses. Merkel Farms also runs a summer camp and host a winter show series.

Monthly board of $420 includes assigned stall in bad weather or for medical needs, otherwise turned out in ample pasture 24/7 in small groups of 2-4, separated for feeding, simple tasks such as fly mask, blankets, etc.. grain (sweet feed, Sentinel and/or Sunshine) and grass hay. Family oriented, old, historic farm. Full care includes twice a day feeding. We offer boarding, lessons, training, and leasing. Although some of our boarders do show various disciplines from western pleasure through hunters,we are more of a trail/fun barn. We are not a show barn. Very laid back. Children welcome with adult supervision. Weekend trail rides together. Ride our trails to the water(that is part of our property) and take your horse swimming. We believe in leaving our horses out in the pasture with run ins unless the weather is bad. Each Horse is brought in twice daily to their stall for feeding and injury check. All stalls are rubber matted and have fans. Lots of private trails, water view. We currently have 3 openings for mares and geldings [mares and geldings are separated in different pastures] although stalls tend to go quickly. $375 per month.
