The Big Red Barn offers a beautiful facility located on 80 acres with large, grassy pastures. Riding options include a 150 x 250 arena, oversized and covered round pen and 40+ acres of trails throughout the property. The barn is airy and welcoming with 9 matted stalls each with high powered fans, two hot & cold wash racks, boarder tack room, lounge, and a large bathroom that also has a washer and dryer. Each pasture has a large 20 x 20 run-in shelter. We feed Triple Crown feeds, and coastal and alfalfa mix hays. Beginner lessons available on our school ponies and approved outside trainers are welcome with insurance. Hickory Top Farm is a full service boarding and lesson facility located in southeastern Richland County near Columbia, SC. Fiddle Creek Farm is an equine retirement home. Pasture board is recommended as many seniors have arthritis. Each 3 acre paddock has a three-sided run in. All horses are brought into the barn and fed twice daily. Stalls are a roomy 16x16 with mounted fans with misters. Horses will be stalled during inclement winter weather.
Boarding fee is $200 per month. This includes quality senior feed supplemented with soaked shredded beet pulp and soaked alfalfa cubes as most senior horses are no longer able to effectively chew grass or hay. Hay is given even if they are only able to quid their forage. Hooves are trimmed every 4 weeks during the summer and every 6 weeks during winter. Twice yearly veterinarian visits for vaccinations, boosters, rabies and pulling of Coggins are billed to the owners.
The owner, a certified ARIA barn manager, has worked extensively rehabbing and caring for rescued horses during the last 12 years. As a result she is very aware of the needs and care of older horses. Jenny Fair is an ICP level I certified instructor through the United States Eventing Association and has been training, teaching and coaching professionally for over 15 years. Jenny Fair is the head trainer at Elhanan Equestrian, and previously Jenny taught at Meredith Manor International Equestrian Center, preparing students for a career in the horse industry in jumping, dressage and western disciplines. With an emphasis on correct classical training of horse and rider, Jenny is very passionate about developing a strong bond between horse and rider and is happy to work riders of all levels and disciplines.
