Elhanan Equestrian’s world-class riding facility is conveniently positioned in Hodges, SC. We are centrally located within a close drive from Greenwood, Abbeville, Ware Shoals, Ninety Six and more. Our centralized location puts us within easy reach of horse country in any direction, with Aiken, Tryon, and Conyers all a quick day trip. Ours is a private, friendly community of horses and owners, a haven just outside of town for your horse to live and for you to ride, learn and make new friends.

Elhanan Equestrian is an English Riding Stable specializing in Eventing, Dressage, Hunter/Jumper, and Pony Club disciplines. Teaching balanced horsemanship and centered riding theory to all ages and abilities, we seek to develop the healthy body, mind, and spirit of horse and rider, to instill the confidence and ability to achieve their goals, and to bring people together to celebrate and enjoy horses. For the serious rider looking to improve their performance in the show ring, the goal oriented competitor, or the beginner just starting out, communication is a huge part of our training philosophy. Each rider- no matter their skill level- can understand how the horse thinks and how to better communicate with their equine partner with simple horsemanship tools and techniques, We strive for riders to achieve a true partnership with their horse both on the ground and while riding.

Starting youngsters, brushing up the trained horse, or bringing a horse to the next level, Jenny maintains the classical dressage methodology in all aspects of horse training and care. Youngsters are brought along slowly, with an emphasis on clear communication and mutual trust. Horses receive a well-rounded education through cross training and relaxing hacks out of the arena setting. This keeps the horses fresh and happy in their work. Each horse receives a program tailored to fit the individual needs of the equine athlete.

We believe competitions provide a goal to work toward. Whether your focus is on riding in your first show, aspiring to compete at a rated show, or to some day ride at the Advanced levels of Eventing or Dressage, we know equine competition is one of the rare and unique sports that is not just about winning, but about the process. Showing is a vehicle for building self-esteem and learning valuable life lessons for young and old. No matter what your preferred style of riding, there is a horse show for you and a great time to be had!

Jenny Fair is an ICP level I certified instructor through the United States Eventing Association and has been training, teaching and coaching professionally for over 15 years. Jenny Fair is the head trainer at Elhanan Equestrian, and previously Jenny taught at Meredith Manor International Equestrian Center, preparing students for a career in the horse industry in jumping, dressage and western disciplines. With an emphasis on correct classical training of horse and rider, Jenny is very passionate about developing a strong bond between horse and rider and is happy to work riders of all levels and disciplines.

Bethany Peslar is a USDF bronze, silver & gold medalist and USEF High Performance Grand Prix rider. Highlights of her accomplishments include being a 2x NAYRC silver medalist, long listed PAN AM Games, Reserve Champion 2006 Inaugural Brentina Cup scoring over 69%, and placing in the top 3 in the Grand Prix Special at Devon, NEDA and Palm Beach Dressage Derby.

Training and lessons are offered for all levels from beginning dressage-Grand Prix. Our facility has a covered arena with top quality footing. All training is customized to the needs of each individual rider and their horse in order to optimize their success. Trailer in lessons are welcome and Bethany is also available to travel to your farm for lessons and clinics. Additionally, we also sometimes have horses available for on site lease. Bethany has a passion for teaching, and has experience training riders up to Grand Prix level. Her instruction emphasizes the development of a correct seat and effective use of the aids in order to achieve maximum success. She also equally focuses on the correct use of the horses body, and strives to achieve this with work that creates both strength and flexibility in the horse. She teaches her students to create a supple horse that is both a pleasure to ride and to watch. For Bethany, Dressage is more than just a sport, it is a performing art. The well being of the horse always comes first and this is reflected both in the training and care provided to your horse when boarding with us. I have a Dressage farm where I teach and train students from training level thru the Grand Prix. There is a large covered arena, a full size Dressage court, a 66 ft. round pen with a 6 stall barn and 10 outdoor paddocks. All arenas and round pen have water and the covered arena has lights. Lauren is passionate about bringing horses and riders up the levels and believes in using a gentle and compassionate approach. Lightness, harmony, and a classical position are the foundation of her training methods. Horses trained by Lauren have a high degree of ride-ability and a relaxed and positive mind frame. Lauren's students appreciate her demanding yet patient approach and have enjoyed much success in the show ring as well as developing rewarding relationships with their horses.

Dressage training and lessons. Beginner to Grand Prix

Michelle is a USDF bronze and silver medalist in Central FL. From 2011-2012, she campaigned to earn a spot and competed on the 2012 Region 3 FEI Young Rider team at the North American Junior/Young Rider Championships (now the North American Youth Championships) in Kentucky. Some of Michelle’s accomplishments include being named Region 3 Fourth Level Champion, Region 3 Prix St-Georges Reserve Champion, and Region 3 Intermediate I Champion. Coached by Anne Gribbons, she is currently competing at Intermediare II on her personal horse.

Varvel Sporthorses is a private breeding and training stable located in Bloomington Indiana. Head trainer Brynne Varvel is an FEI Rider and Trainer who has earned many accolades at every level through FEI Intermediate 1. She began riding when she was just five years old and although she started in Morgan hunters she quickly switched to dressage. She has now trained and competed three horses to FEI Levels ( Big Indian Creek (Intermediate 1), Coulee Bend Harmony (Intermediate 1), and JND's Illuminator (Intermediate 1)). She seeks to train horses fairly and adjusts to each horse as an individual in order to properly understand and progress them. Brynne integrates ground work alongside undersaddle training to ensure mutual respect and understanding between horse and rider. She has trained with Maryal Barnett, Lilo Fore, JT Burnley, Angela Jackson, George Williams, Lendon Gray, David Marcus, Laura Graves, and Oded Shimoni. In addition to her development as a trainer and rider, Brynne earned her Bachelors of Science in Public Affairs Management from Indiana University in 2021.
