DERS Summer Horseback Riding Camp program is located close to Denver in Littleton, Colorado. Horse lovers ages 5-16yrs are divided into sessions according to age and ability. Some sessions available for beginners, and others designed for intermediate and advanced riders. Camp is run by certified professionals, and riders spend the day with patient instructors and peers learning about horses and their care.

Our Summer Horse Camp program is not only FAMOUS across the USA, we also attract riders from all over the globe! Horse lovers from all over Europe, Japan, Mexico and Canada enjoy our Summer Horse Camp so much, they fly back to attend year after year!

Campers prepare for the Horse Show!

Family and friends welcome (11am - 2pm), and your equestrians are excused after the Ribbon Ceremony!

Daily Activities:

Hands on grooming, tacking, and riding lessons.

Unmounted equine education: lunging, horse care, cleaning stalls, feeding horses, barn scavenger hunt games and more.

Kids also create a horsey craft that they are proud to bring home.

PLUS, one afternoon, each group takes turns swimming at the Normandy Pool and Tennis Club from 3pm - 4pm.

Campers are divided into groups by age and ability.

The Li'l Equestrians level (ages 5-7yrs) and the Beginner level

do not require an assessment lesson to enroll.

If your child does not currently ride with us, and you would like placement in a more advanced group, a 60-min private assessment lesson IS REQUIRED ($145)

Every camper spends the day with horses, including a structured lesson in the saddle. We follow the Certified Horsemanship Association manuals of horsemanship. Just a few of the topics covered include: Equitation, Safety and Horse Care, Anatomy, Breeds - History, Color, Tack - Types, Parts, Cleaning, Horses - Grooming, Bathing, Clipping, Feeding, Cleaning, Injuries and Treatments, and Horse Show Preparation.

Campers should wear long pants for riding, a shirt with short or long sleeves, a certified horseback riding helmet, and hard-soled shoes or boots with a small heel. Bring a hearty, healthy lunch. Our camps include afternoon swimming at the neighboring Normandy Pool, so don't forget a swimsuit and towel!

Double Header Performance Horses is a full service equestrian facility operating out of Cross Horns Ranch in Evergreen. For the summer of 2011, Cappaleigh Riding Academy will be offering 4 camps. The week of camp includes daily riding lessons, horsemanship classes, and horsey arts and crafts. Camp with Cornerstone Farm is designed to teach English riding and stable management skills in a safe, friendly and fun learning environment. Our time-tested program teaches not only horsemanship but also teamwork, confidence and self-reliance. Our knowledgeable staff guide campers to develop new skills, both on and off the horses. Introduction to Horses and Riding - 6/16-20, 7/7-11
For riders age 7 and up with little or no riding experience. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9am-2pm. Long pants, sunscreen and a sack lunch needed. Cost $450/wk.
Horse Show Camp - 6/2-7, 7/21-26, 7/28-8/2
For riders age 7 and up with a minimum experience level of walk and trot. Daily riding lessons will focus on preparing riders for a real horse show on Saturday following camp. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9am-2pm and a horse show on Saturday. Cost is $450/wk plus show fees.

Horse Day camp for all horse lovers. Camp includes English, Western, Vaulting, Trail Rides, Showing, Art, Chores, Classroom and Swimming!

The camp is designed to be both an educational and fun experience for youth. Ages 10-15 are invited to participate as an overnight camper and ages 10-18 are welcome as day campers. English and Western riding are welcome during both sessions. Campers are under supervision by counselors and/or instructors during their time at CSU. Housing and meals are provided to overnight campers in a university residence hall on the main campus. Overnight campers also will have transportation between main campus and the B.W. Pickett Equine Center by counselors in University vans. Day campers will be required to provide their own food, transportation, and accommodations while attending the camp. Day campers’ horses will be stalled at the B.W. Pickett Equine Center during the duration of the camp.

The camp will begin on Monday (session 1) or Sunday (session 2) with all camper registration and horse check-in at 2:00 p.m. Overnight campers will be transported to the dormitory at 3:00 p.m. by their parents or the counselors to get settled before attending ice-breaking activities with the day campers back at the B.W. Pickett Center at 4:00 p.m. Each camp day will combine riding lessons and lectures on topics such as safety, grooming, nutrition, and horse behavior. Additional activities are designed to expose campers to other areas of the equine industry and help campers get to know one another. Campers will have an opportunity to swim at the CSU Recreational Sports pool on the main campus at least once during the week. On the last morning, campers will demonstrate their skills for their parents before leaving by 11:00 a.m. to return home.

The riding instructors for the camp will be University faculty supported by assistants and counselors who are experienced riding instructors. Lectures and instruction are provided by CSU Equine Sciences faculty, students, and camp counselors.... See More

Level I camps are split into age groups for junior riders (ages 6-9, who are potty-trained) and youth riders (ages 10-16). They are suitable for new riders & students who are already riding, but not yet independently loping. Level I camps will cover catching, grooming, & saddling. Students will independently ride walk/trot (with some loping for those who are ready). Students will get on-property exposure to a range of riding disciplines, including trail/obstacles and intro to western show & gymkhana events. Fridays feature an in-house western show/gymkhana competition, along with free pizza for lunch!

Level II is for youth riders (ages 10-16) who are comfortable loping (not for new students). Level II camps will include hauling off-property to local trails, prepping for western shows (pleasure, reining, ranch riding), and practicing for gymkhana events. (Handy kids slightly above & below this age range will be happily considered.) Fridays feature an in-house western show/gymkhana competition, along with free pizza for lunch!
