The most important decision that all horse owners make is who their farrier is. Horse shoeing and understanding lameness are a classic engineering problems to solve. Prior to becoming a farrier I was a structural engineer. Using my knowledge in engineering and design, coupled with my experience as a horsemen and professional farrier, I'll help you make a more informed decision regarding your horse's hoof care needs.

Understanding what is healthy/normal to what is distorted and unhealthy are some of the things that I focus on as a farrier. I will spend time with you discussing the mechanics of the hoof and the movement and placement of the hoof as it strikes the ground. I will review the parts of the hoof; external and internal that are required to function properly to promote a healthier, sounder, and more efficient horse. We'll discuss balance and why it matters.

My name is Kayleigh and I'm a barefoot trimmer for horses, mules, ponies, donkeys and gentle drafts.
I am located in Northglenn and accept clients within 45 minutes of my radius.
Services I offer: rehab trims, maintenance trims and shoe removal, as well as boot fitting for Floating boots.

My approach to hoofcare is "whole horse": I factor in diet, environment and nutrition when working on hooves. Anything that influences the hoof health, or the health of the animal in general, I will mention. More often than not this will include diet, metabolic issues and muscle/joint stiffness.

I’m a member of the rocky mountain farriers association, Texas farriers association and also a member of the American farriers association. I have over 10 years experience and 50+ references available upon request. I have continued education with some of the best farriers in the country and have trained a couple of farriers in the area.

I specialize in prolonging the enjoyment on your horse by:

1. Mitigating excessive toe leverage (long toes)
2. Growing back heels (that were chopped off)
3. Identifying proper shoe placement to allow the hoof to grow where it is made to grow (instead of restricting it)
4. Identifying and improving breakover (mitigating excess leverage on joints and tendons)

These are the 4 major problems people have been hiring me to solve and probably the most common amongst all horses in this area.

All of these issues can lead to contracted heels/navicular syndrome due to the repositioning of the digital cushion which is necessary to be in proper position to absorb concussion and maintain soundness.

I currently collaborate with numerous veterinarians to primarily focus on solving these issues as well as perform preventative maintenance to prevent horses from reaching these stages.

Because of inflation I am looking to cut down my drive time and fuel costs and replace some of my longer drives with clients close by.
