I have over 35 years experience in teaching children and adults at all riding levels. I have had a passion for horses from early childhood and am fortunate to be able to share my experience through my teaching. I believe that you can learn life skills through horsemanship and developing a bond between horse and rider is a wonderful experience. I am a USHJA Certified Trainer and have coached many riders to Local and National awards. I specialize in the American Hunter Jumper System and offer schedules for both the recreational rider and the serious competition rider. Valerie de Marval has been riding since the age of seven and has been an instructor and trainer for over two decades. Valerie is a Certified Riding Instructor and Horsemanship Graduate of the Pacific Horse Center. Her early training included many years of intense work with Dennis Calin and Lissolette Fore. She has competed through Third Level; trained at Prix St. Georges; and shown both hunter/jumper and 3-day events. She even worked with race horses in France for several years as an amateur jockey!

Valerie offers group and private instruction for riders of all ages, levels, and abilities. Her primary focus is Dressage, but she also teaches Basic Horsemanship as well as low level Hunter/Jumper and English Pleasure classes. Lungeing of horse and rider can be arranged. Valerie has a small stable of school ponies and horses available for classes and leasing.

Personalized training and coaching for you and your horse is available. Valerie is happy to help you prepare for and compete in shows. She also can show your horse herself if you would prefer.

Valerie presently is available at Emerald Lane Stables in Bothell, WA and Silhouette Stables in Arlington, WA. Travel to your barn can be arranged.

Yvonne Mathews has been involved in youth development and the use of horses as teachers for over 25 years in Washington State. She has coached many 4-H youth through their 4-H project as well as mentored aspiring instructors and trainers. Her students have been top ten riders as well as medal riders consistently.
Prior to coaching, Yvonne apprenticed under trainers with various breeds of horses. Most notably, Arabians at Scott Arabians, as well as Paso Finos, At Ranch Paso Bravo, in California. She also worked at Brown’s Canyon Equestrain center with Kathy Brown as a polo pony exerciser. She has a two year degree in Equine Science and Nutrition, from Pierce College, Ca. and continues her Equine knowledge periodically with judges training and volunteering as ring steward/scribe at local equine shows.
