Huntington Farm Hanoverians is a full-service hunter/jumper stable offering private lessons for children and adults from the beginner novice through advanced level rider. Whether you are new to horseback riding or are a seasoned competitor, Huntington Farm can help tailor a program to suit you. Lessons are personalized to each riders individual goals with a focus on safety and success for both horse and rider. All riding lessons at Huntington Farm are instructed by owner/trainer Mary Jane Todd-Day. Mary Jane enjoys working with both adult amateur riders and young riders alike, using positive training and coaching methods that take into consideration each rider's ability and riding goals with an emphasis on horsemanship, education and success. Whether you are a beginner who wants to learn to ride, or an experienced rider who wants to improve your skills, there is a place for you at our Riding School! We teach English and Western to our students, who range in age from 4 to Mature. Group and private sessions are available.
Students are split into small riding groups based on their ability and previous riding experience. Our goal is to build each rider’s skills and confidence enabling them to ride safely and correctly. Theory is an essential plank of our curriculum. The ‘whys’ of riding, training, and horse behavior, are equally important to the ‘hows’. Small group environment allows our instructors to offer individualized attention and develop riders at their own pace.
All students are taught a solid foundation in the basics of riding. Hunter, Jumper, Dressage, and Pleasure riders all learn to employ the balanced seat appropriate for their preferred riding style. Horsemanship is an essential aspect of every lesson. Each student is required to practice the basic responsibilities of the equine art, such as catching, grooming, and tacking their horse. It is our desire to help you and your horse compete or just ride at the level you are comfortable with. The beauty of the shows we haul to is that they provide a level for all to compete at their skill and comfort level. There are classes offered all the way from Green as Grass rider to the experienced Non-Pro. Part of your training cost includes a free lesson each week. If you are in the area we would encourage you to come and ride more often to practice what you are learning. Fallon rode her first reining horse in 1999 and this experience immediately had her hooked. She bought her first reining horse from Roger Brazeau, whom she later apprenticed for. She showed that horse for 4 years while still competing in all-around events on her other horses. It took her several years to begin specializing in reining, but Fallon believes that her experience competing in many different disciplines has only improved her knowledge of horses. Fallon has competed in and apprenticed with trainers specializing in working cow horse, cutting, team roping, ranch versatility, western pleasure, western riding, horsemanship, showmanship, hunter under saddle, and hunt seat equitation. She spent 1 year apprenticing with western pleasure trainer, Doug Baucom before moving to Collinsville, TX to apprentice with NRHA Hall of Fame trainer, Roger Brazeau.

We teach lessons from Beginner to Advanced hunt seat. We are on 100 beautiful acres with a ring of 250 x 200. Very laid back atmosphere with focus on local showing at CTHJA level and some "A" shows.

I teach barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, and other speed/playday events. My youth group is my main focus with competitors in junior high and high school rodeo. Rio Vista Farm, located on the banks of the Colorado River, opened to the public in 1995. The facility quickly became the premier Hunter/Jumper stable of Austin, offering top quality care and professional training for both horse and rider.

Located 3 miles from Austin Airport, within 15 minutes from downtown Austin and the University of Texas, and about 25 minutes from Westlake Hills (with van transportation service available from convenient Westlake location.
Head Trainer Susan McMorris instructs those that own their own horses or are leasing. Boarders sign up for 2 specific group lesson days and times per week. This allows us to group together riders by ability and to limit lesson size. Susan began her professional career in 1984 after graduating from Meredith Manor School of Equestrian Studies. She has operated Hunter/Jumper training/lesson barns since 1985, creating many lesson programs and summer camp operations that have been copied throughout the city. She has taken many riders from summer camp level to year end high point winner in Hunters, Jumpers and Equitation. Rio Vista riders can be seen in the high point standings of local and Texas A shows on a yearly basis.

Assistant Trainers Haylee Morris and Amy Gangstad are available for those students that ride the lesson horses or to beginner rider boarders. Haylee has 15+ years of experience teaching riders of all levels provides her with the knowledge and patience to provide excellent instruction to both first time riders or those with more experience. Amy began her riding career with Susan and upon graduation from St. Edwards University began working as a professional trainer/rider.
Group Lessons: (45 minutes to 1 hour) Available on a monthly basis only. $190 monthly with a $100 deposit for once a week lessons. One month notice required to discontinue lessons. Deposit applied to final month after proper notice is given.

Private Lessons: (45 minutes) $65 for initial introductory private lesson. After initial private, lessons available on a monthly basis only. $330 monthly with a $150 deposit for once a week private lessons.
