Specializing in dressage, I am a USDF bronze and silver medalist (competed successfully through Prix St. Georges)on self-trained horses. I utilize classical methods that adhere to the training scale and work with the horse's specific psychology instead of a "one for all" training philosophy. I work closely with my students to design specific training programs that best fit their needs and allow them to maximize their potential. Whether you are a serious competitor or simply desire to develop your horse as an athlete and partner, my belief is that each client deserves the same quality of training and personal attention. We are lcoated in a picturesque setting in Hixson, TN, near Chattanooga with 35 acres of riding land. Once your riding ability increases, we ride to the Chickamauga creek and see a variety of wildlife. You will learn how to negotiate streams, logs and hills.

We begin lessons at 5 years of age with a 45 minute lesson. Students 10 and older receive an hour and 15 minutes of instruction. Two instructors will ride will each lesson. We also offer lessons for special needs students. Lessons will be structured according to each person’s experience and goals. All lessons are by appointment.

We also do pony rides for children under 5 and Birthday Parties. Students not only learn how to ride, but how to take care of a horse. Some of the things that you will learn are:

At Sunnyside Stables, we offer riding lessons to riders of all ages, disciplines both english (on the flat and over fences) and western, and skill levels. Brandy McDonnell is our Chief Riding Instructor. Brandy has more than 30 years of riding experience. Brandy is a certified "Master Instructor" from the Certified Horsemanship Association, allowing her to certify riders from beginning levels to the highest level of either English or Western style riding. The C.H.A. is one of the top leading certifying organizations for equine instructors. Brandy holds a lifetime membership in the C.H.A. as well as a lifetime membership with the American Quarter Horse Association (A.Q.H.A.).
