Riding lessons are offered for beginners through advanced. All lessons are private and customized to the individual.

Dressage training – intro through FEI levels, using a classical dressage approach. – show prep and coaching also available.

Foundation building for riders of all disciplines (western, huntseat, gaited, etc), using natural horsemanship and classical dressage principles. We focus on:

• Understanding the nature of the horse
• Developing an independent seat and correct use of aids
• Learning timing and feel
• Establishing leadership
• Creating lightness
• Encouraging your horse’s athleticism
• Fostering a true partnership between horse and rider

Especially for beginners and new horse owners, we offer lessons in complete horsemanship – including ground work, fitting of tack, horse health care and management, and more.

A horse trainer and riding instructor for over 40 years, Sandi has extensive experience working with a variety of challenges and unique situations, including:

• Adult beginner riders
• Riders returning after a long break
• Riders dealing with fear and confidence issues
• Horses with a history of abuse and mishandling
• Horses with limited, incomplete, or incorrect training
• Horses of many different breeds and temperaments

$60.00 per private hour on your own horse (boarded here or trailered in); $65 per private hour with one of our lesson horses. For lessons off-site, travel fee applies.

On May 1, 2013, a new era will begin at Huntcliff. We will now be known as River Run Equestrian at Huntcliff. Many new and exciting programs and improvements are in the works. Atlanta Riding Academy offers quality HunterJumper lesson and training program. The Academy is for those seeking excellence in the art, sport and discipline of HunterJumper riding. Quality, safety and skill building are emphasized in all aspects of the program. The Academy has show-quality horses and lessons are on a scenic farm inside the perimeter. Luella Stables offers boarding, lessons for the beginner and intermediate rider and trail riding for all ages and requires no prior experience to participate. Lessons are offered Monday through Thursday. We specialize in first time riders and molding each student into all around equestrians. Students experience grooming, saddling, feeding, bathing and more about the overall experience of owning a horse. Students are welcome at the age of 4 and 5 but they are truly capable of gaining the most at ages 6 and up. I suggest our Friday night rides to children younger than 6 and please bring the entire family! It's only $10 per person for a 20 minute trail ride. We offer this every Friday 4:30 to dark. Our mission is to support self-growth, promote inclusivity and build a connection within the community through animal-assisted activities designed to improve cognitive, social, emotional, and physical functioning. Our program is open to people of any ages and any ability, but our priority goes to those looking for a therapeutic environment. We do not focus on competition and our program participants have a large part in designing their horsemanship journey. I teach western riding lessons for ages 4 through adult. I have a 15 year record of safety and success with hundreds of riders both for recreation and competition. I own 17 horses and have my students learn to ride as many of them as possible so that they become excellent riders with many different breeds, sizes, and personalities. Our farm trains for and holds competitive trail riding competitions for those who wish to compete. We have miles of trails and many areas to ride. I teach 5 days a week, but I have a staff of instructors that allow us to teach 7 days a week. One thing that sets us apart from other farms is that we teach the rider the best control and balance by not using stirrups until the rider is at an advanced level. This teaches the rider to grip with his/her body and to become one with the horse when moving through the various gaits. We also teach the rider to use gentle aids that do not require much force and that foster building relationships with the horses. We teach low jumping for western riding as well for those who wish to jump obstacles out on the trail. My staff and I teach with patience and allow riders to learn at their own pace. We make the experience highly instructional in a fun and relaxed manner for the rider. Marilyn Austin, giving riding instruction at Chastain Horse Park, in Atlanta, Ga offers lessons to children and adults, beginner to advanced riders are welcome. Certified by the British Horse Society, Marilyn has taught professionally for over 30 years in the Metro Atlanta area. Her foundation for instruction came from an elite riding school SW of London, but years of teaching has provided experience in many types of lesson environments, with multiple riding disciplines. Extensive work with Special Olympics over the years, and working with 4-H, Marilyn enjoys the process of helping riders develop skills, and focuses on education about horsemanship, safety, and teaching all riders to appreciate the horse or pony. Positive reinforcment, and a proven method of learning from the ground up has helped many students over the years become accomplished equestrians, many of whom now continue to ride as adults,and continue to be involved with the horse industry.
When Marilyn joined the team of instructors at Chastain Horse Park, she then acquired certification from NARHA, which enhanced her previous equine education, and qualified her to safely teach and supervise riding for children and adults with special needs.
