We provide quality instruction for all levels and ages of riders. Training for horses and riders is centered around building a trusting relationship between horse and rider. Through lessons and training on effective, proper communication, control, and position a successful partnership can be developed. We offer lease and 1/2 lease options, as well as showing opportunities. Jaid Stables offers 2 full time instructors, so it is easy to get a lesson or training in. We have a wonderful group of sweet unicorns to help teach any level and any age.

On May 1, 2013, a new era will begin at Huntcliff. We will now be known as River Run Equestrian at Huntcliff. Many new and exciting programs and improvements are in the works. Our goal is to offer the highest quality educational experience to our riding students. We will go beyond merely sitting on a horse to knowing what's going on inside the horse. Not just riding lessons really because our students will become well rounded horsemen capable of pursuing any discipline as an effective partner. Additionally, we have committed to bringing Atlanta's best Therapeutic Riding program to River Run. Although, we feel all riding is therapeutic, we know for some it's an essential part of their recovery and management of many disabilities. Shannon Loven-Thompson has over 20 years experience teaching children and training ponies for show and pleasure. Currently, Shannon has a waiting list for new students starting as young as 4 years of age. Our ponies have years of experience teaching beginners and competing at horse shows of all kinds. Students compete regularly and are often among the show leaders. Our students enjoy consistent competition in Eventing, Dressage, State 4-H Horse Shows, Pony Club Championships, GDCTA events, and local hunter shows.
Shannon enjoys developing a robust group of child safe ponies at a variety of skill levels as well as young riders to enjoy the ponies she trains. Areas of specialization: early youth riders, equitation, dressage, show jumping, three (3) day eventing, and western pleasure.

I teach western riding lessons for ages 4 through adult. I have a 15 year record of safety and success with hundreds of riders both for recreation and competition. I own 17 horses and have my students learn to ride as many of them as possible so that they become excellent riders with many different breeds, sizes, and personalities. Our farm trains for and holds competitive trail riding competitions for those who wish to compete. We have miles of trails and many areas to ride. I teach 5 days a week, but I have a staff of instructors that allow us to teach 7 days a week. One thing that sets us apart from other farms is that we teach the rider the best control and balance by not using stirrups until the rider is at an advanced level. This teaches the rider to grip with his/her body and to become one with the horse when moving through the various gaits. We also teach the rider to use gentle aids that do not require much force and that foster building relationships with the horses. We teach low jumping for western riding as well for those who wish to jump obstacles out on the trail. My staff and I teach with patience and allow riders to learn at their own pace. We make the experience highly instructional in a fun and relaxed manner for the rider. We make sure that all riders learn to catch, groom, tack, and lunge the horses they ride so that they get the full experience and move towards independence.... See More
