Meadow Lark Farm in The Plains, VA is a premiere dressage boarding farm and the vision of lifelong equestrians to create a state of the art facility in a safe, comfortable and beautiful environment. The farm is set among the rolling hills of Orange County Hunt Territory, yet convenient to I-66, DC, and NOVA. Designed, owned, and operated by a veterinarian (living on site), the barn is airy with abundant natural light and boasts 12’ x 13’ stalls, heated wash stalls, and a temperature controlled tackroom. We offer ample private and semi-private turn-out in board fenced fields with an average of one horse per two acres. The farm features an 80’ x 200’ indoor arena with 600 square feet of mirrors and automated sidewalls for quick conversion to an airy, covered arena as well as a 100’ x 200’ outdoor arena with a regulation dressage ring. Here at Thorpland Stables we focus on beginner students and specialize in horsemanship, which is more than just riding. Horsemanship means learning skills and knowledge, and especially the attitude, feeling and responsibility for horses that makes a true horseman or horsewoman. In addition we focus on balanced seat, basic english and saddleseat equitation, but we welcome all disciplines and levels of experience.
