In the fall of 2016, I found my passion for farriery. After serving time in the military and traveling extensively, I worked a variety of jobs that didn’t quite fulfill me. I began taking classes at Oregon Farrier School in 2017, where I graduated at the top of my class. I continue to ride along with other farriers as well as attend veterinary/farrier clinics to improve my skills and knowledge base. From 2016 to 2019, I volunteered my time with the Equitarian Initiative (whose international veterinary and farrier programs are invaluable) where I worked with the mules, donkeys and horses that help uphold the economy. I continue to work at equine rescues and sanctuaries in order to help those in our own community.

Half set regular shoeing- $130

Full set regular shoeing- $190

Specialized/corrective shoeing- Prices will vary.

Offering hoof care services for equines in southern Oregon:

Natural Hoof Care practitioner internationally trained through the ISNHCP program of Jaime Jackson, founder of NHC. (see www.isnhcp.net / www.aanhcp.net for more info)

NHC is a whole horse approach based on the wild horse model, including natural boarding, a reasonably natural diet, balanced horsemanship, and the natural trim. This is a trim method that mimics the wear patterns of wild, free roaming horses of the U.S. great basin or similar adaptive biomes.

Your horse's hooves will generally need to be trimmed on a 6-8 week schedule, depending on the condition of the hooves, the environment the horse is kept in, the amount of movement the horse has on a daily basis, and the amount of rehabilitation necessary for the horse to grow out a healthy hoof. A healthy barefoot horse is sure-footed on any terrain, and can perform in any discipline of horsemanship.

Besides hoof trimming, free consultations on natural boarding, diet and hoof boots are also included in the hoof care services I provide. I travel up to 1 1/2 hrs to see hoof care clients.

I am a professionally trained hoof care practitioner. I was trained in the AANHCP, directly under Jaime Jackson (the godfather of the natural horse movement), with my main mentorship under Dave Darnell of Fort Worth, Texas. I have been working professionally for 9 years in southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico, but am now located in Ashland, Oregon. I am serving the greater southern Oregon area. I have successfully rehabbed very laminitic horses and have a very sound approach to helping these animals get back to their healthy selves. I am a strong and patient man. I take great pride in what I do, and care deeply for the animals I service. I will never be aggressive with your animals. I love horses, and know how important it is to feel confident in your hoof care practitioner.

As with everything in life, we should question our way of doing things from time to time, to make sure we are up to date on what has been revealed through steadfast practitioners in the field. Are you tired of expensive farrier services, that you don't know for sure, you need? Have you ever wondered why the wild horses of the Great Basin do not need a farrier, or vet, ever? These horses are sound and prolific. The school of practice I come from focuses on creating a management system, as well as trimming method, to bring horses into this level of soundness. We take the wild horse model and bring it to your paddock in the best we can, taking into consideration all the things- budget, desire, etc. Implementing even a little bit of the wild horse model can have profound health benefits for your horse.

I grew up in Montana riding and working as a young child where I developed a deep love and understanding for horses. I started getting under young brood mares and young ranch horses up until going to Oklahoma horseshoeing school in Purcell, OK directed by owner, Jack Roth.
