Verrill Stables is expanding their lesson program! Openings available now!
Learn to ride at Verrill Stables located in Danville, NH. We have a great staff and a fantastic set of 10 school horses. Visit the website www.verrillstables.com to see the facility and more detailed information.
We offer saddleseat riding lessons, huntseat lessons, Summer Camp, Birthday parties, and horse training.
We have no age limit! Our current lesson program has riders from age 4 all the way up to 70.
For the summer we are offering a free private introductory lesson to new potential clients!
The 1 hour intro lesson for people new to horses and riding will include learning how to halter, walk, brush, tack, mount, dismount, stop, go, steer.
People who have previously ridden at a different barn and are looking to find a new barn or get back into riding are eligible for the free intro lesson as well! What we cover will be based on prior experience.
After your intro lesson if you are interested in continuing to ride at Verrill Stables we offer several types of lessons / packages. Lessons are typically around 30 mins of ride time. We encourage our clients to arrive 15-30 mins prior to the start of the lesson to assist in brushing and tacking their horse, but if all you want is the luxury to hop on and ride your horse will be tacked and ready by our stable assistants for the start time of your lesson.
Unlike other stables, your ride time does not include lots of walking and standing in the middle. Once you get on, you will be taking a couple laps around the 200x80 indoor heated ring (or similarly sized outdoor ring based on weather) to warm up and stretch then its time to work for horse and rider!
Current lesson rates are as follows after the intro lesson -
Private (30 mins ride time) - Private lessons are for people who want one on one attention to quickly improve their skills and for riders who still need to perfect their ability to walk and trot on their own.
- $45 per lesson
- $170 for prepay on a block of 4 lessons
Group (30 mins ride time) - For students to ride together with a mixture of one on one and group instruction. Groups vary from (2-4 riders). Group lessons are only for riders who have demonstrated the ability to walk and trot on their own. We will however make exeptions to this for families riding together. (Example: If big sister can walk trot on her own but little sister still isn't there yet we will schedule them as a group lesson and keep the little peanut on a lunge line (long line allowing control by instructor as rider goes around in a circle on the horse).
- $35 per lesson / person
- $135 for prepay on a block of 4 lessons / person.
Another great feature of our lesson program is the affordability of Practice Rides!
Riders who continue to take 1 lesson / week who are capable of brushing, tacking, and riding at the walk and trot unassisted are eligible to come for practice rides. These are rides where the student may come and ride on their own to work on things they have learned during their lesson. The instructor is present and may offer pointers from time to time, but the primary focus of these rides is to give riders a chance to practice what they have learned on their own in a controlled setting.
- $25 per ride
We also offer a work to ride program for our older riders who are able to brush and tack on their own. This helps many parents in making the cost of lessons more affordable.
