Summer Camp at Southern Cross Stables 2017
Camp at Southern Cross Stables includes:
Horsemanship Skills
Safely approach, halter, lead & tie a horse; groom the horse, learn the parts of the horse; tack up; stall cleaning and barn chores.

Riding
Campers who are beginners will learn to mount and dismount; ride at the walk on the lunge line; halt properly and accurately from the walk; work on confidence building exercises and stretches; guide the horse at the walk; and walk the horse accurately over patterns of poles and cones. Trot work will be introduced on the lunge line. Campers will be evaluated for higher skill levels, and work based on their abilities.

Supervised Swimming
Campers will need to bring a bathing suit, towel, rubber flip flops or sandals, and a bag for their damp swim gear.

Games, activities and videos
Campers will have age-appropriate, noncompetitive recreational and educational sessions .
Adjustments will be made based on the age of the camper.
Dates for 2017 camps are:
Camp 1 June 12-16
Camp 2 June 26-30
Camp 3 July 3- 7
Camp 4 July 17-21
Camps:
minimum of 3 campers
open for all ages and levels
focus on basic horsemanship and level appropriate riding
campers will enjoy arts and crafts, a field trip, Friday pizza party, learn farm animal care, and swim every day
Hours: 9am to 2pm
Cost: $250 plus extended hours at $5 per hour
