Ashly was born in Florence, South Carolina and has been riding since the age of 5. She began her riding career showing at the local shows, and realized that she wanted to be more competitive and spent many years showing on the national level riding hunters, jumpers and equitation.
Spending many years riding with Judy Young, the family made the move to Camden, South Carolina where Ashly spent most of her time riding and showing many horses for Judy up and down the East Coast, and in Kentucky.
Ashly earned multiple year end awards with NCHJA, SCHJA, PSJ, BRHJA with several horses throughout this time. Some of the horses that she has shown have been many hunters and jumpers that have carried her to many championships during her career.
At the age of 11, Ashly was the youngest rider to capture the NCHJA and the SCHJA trophies for the top equitation rider for both states for over all the age groups. She has also qualified for equitation medals such as The SC Governor’s Cup, The Palmetto Jr. Medal, The Tack Room Jr. Medal, The NCHJA Pony Medal, The PSJ Pony Medal, the EJ Haun Jr. Medal and the Stateline National Children’s Medal.
Already a talented rider, she discovered a knack for teaching, leading her to a career as a rider, trainer and coach. In 2011, she opened her own business as Bazen Equestrian Services, now based at Swamp Fox Farms. She has served in a number of roles in the equine industry:
