We are a full service training facility located in beautiful Butte Valley, CA. We offer in-house lessons on your horse or ours, with the option of working in our covered arena, round pen, obstacle course or out on the trail. We also are willing to travel to appointments up to an hour away. Additionally, we do accept a limited number of horses for training - specializing with colt starting, troubled horses/behavioral issues, tune-ups or discipline specific training in select disciplines. Knoll's Basic Horsemanship offers horse classes which include horse psychology, basic care, ground school and riding demonstrations. Gateway Farm is primarily a Dressage and Eventing barn although we welcome all riding disciplines at our facility. Our facility includes a main barn with oversized box stalls and box stalls with paddocks, a mare and foaling barn with video monitoring, small and large individual pastures, and open group pastures with shelters.  We have separate pastures for weanling foals, yearlings, mares and geldings, and retirees.  We maintain a large outdoor arena with sand footing and a complete set of jumps, a covered arena with combination Nike/sand footing, lights, and mirrors, a dressage arena, a large round pen, and a cross-country course with a gallop track.  Private, semi-private and group lessons on your own horse or one of our well trained lesson horses are offered, and we are also affiliated with the Liberty Oaks Pony Club.  There is easy access to trails.... Lightfoot Horse Farm is located in Chico, CA (specifically Cohasset, CA) surrounded by Northern California’s most picturesque scenery! We are a small family farm, teaching private beginner lessons to children and adults alike. What sets us apart from other riding facilities is that we teach horsemanship, rather than just riding lessons. Whereas other facilities throw students up in the saddle at the first lesson, focusing on just one discipline of riding, we start from the ground up.
