We are a small, family owned, family and faith oriented farm with a close knit staff and volunteers who are here because they love horses and people. Our classes are small (mostly one on one with an instructor), resulting in close personal attention during lessons. Our horses are tried and true safe lesson horses.Our instructors offer a breadth of experience from eventing, jumping, English equitation, to western pleasure. I've been riding in dressage and eventing for 10+ years, have a background with United States Pony Club, and worked for various barns over the years. This has given me a well rounded experience of teaching, riding, and horse care. I am offering lessons and training to any variety of horses and ponies and people. I've taught 6 y/o to 60+ y/o with varying levels of experience, and I've worked with OTTBs, foals to yearlings, and ponies. In my lessons, I hope to create a conversations where questions are encouraged, and the rider and horse are comfortable and relaxed. My program focuses on developing a working bond between horse and handler. In doing so confidence is fostered not only in the rider but the horse as well. This creates a solid foundation based on positive reinforcement and facilitates easy learning advancement in addition to preventing negative habits from forming.
I have been involved with horses my whole life. At age nine I began breaking and training ponies. I have shown with AQHA and NSBA for the last sixteen years and have had the opportunity to apprentice with many great horsemen of the industry. My personal achievements include 2008 NSBA Res. Limited Rider of the year, 2008 Reichert Intermediate Slot class winner, 2010 Reichert champion, multiple top five and top ten placings at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. Ellen teaches lessons to people of all ages and experience levels. There are several school horses available so if you don't have your own horse the farm can provide an appropriate mount. Ellen also travels to other farms and is willing to work with you at your location. Although Ellen specializes in hunter jumper lessons emphasizing dressage basics she also enjoys taking her students and horses on trail rides. Lunar Winds Stables' lesson program is based on training ideals that strengthen bonds and communicate with horses through their mind, voice, emotions, and body language. Through riding, they learn how their seat affects the horse, and learn how to recognize different types of horse behavior and what could be done to make problem behaviors better. Sherri is a high honors graduate of Kent State University with Bachelor of Science degree in teaching. She currently runs one of the largest horse 4-H clubs in the county. She has a passion for instruction. Her love for horses and the children that ride them is evident in her training. She offers comprehensive instruction both on and off the horse to prepare her students both children and adults for the show ring if desired. She teaches both typically developing and special needs students. I can halter break foals, start horses under saddle, or finish a horse in any of the following disciplines; western, english, jumping, showmanship, contesting and trail. I charge $35 per hour and like the owner of the horse to learn my training techniques so they know what to do with the horse when they are working with them. I also do monthly training that requires the horse be boarded on out farm. $250 for full care board and $250 for training. I work with the horse at least 4 times a week. My main goal when training is to have a calm, respectful and willing horse on the ground and in the saddle. I believe the proper ground work is the key to most problems. I give lessons to beginners up to experienced riders. I also will give lessons to all ages; no on is too young or too old in my eyes. I prefer private lessons only but will give a group lesson up to two riders at a time. I charge $35 per private lesson and $25 per rider for a group lesson. Lessons usually last 1 1/2 hours because I guarantee an hour on the horses back.

I have 19 years of experience training horses/riders. I have had over 6 different personal trainers and I study John Lyons,Pat Parelli,Guy McLean, Chris Cox, Clinton Anderson, Craig Cameron and many others on a consistent basis. I believe you can never know everything and the same techniques do not work on every horse. I have shown in all of the above disciplines and have done very well.
