Horse Back Riding Lessons in Ocala, FL area by Whitney Mulqueen. If you don't have a horse.....we have very nice lesson & lease horses at farm with and indoor and outdoor riding arenas. Due to Insurance & Liability - Farm is not a trail riding barn.

Whitney teaches adults & children and has over 30 years of teaching and riding experience. She has shown Hunt Seat Equitation & Hunters in NY, NJ, CT, MA and PA. Studied Dressage, trained hunters and has taken clinics with Judy Richter (H/J trainer and "R" judge) , Carol Maloney (H/J trainer and "R" judge), and Hanz Renz (3-Day Olympic Swiss Team Coach) makes her a well-rounded instructor. Whitney has a background in Hunter/Jumper/English Equitation/Basic Dressage and has been Horse Show Judge at rated shows in NY, NJ and PA.

Lessons are by appointment. Horses are available to buy or lease. If you are looking for a certain type of horse to buy - Whitney has over 25 years of finding suitable/well matched horses in everyone's price range.

Canopy Oak Trails offers horseback riding
instruction for all levels of riders, from beginner to advanced, western or English. We are fortunate to have several excellent riding instructors, who love teaching beginners & kids. They also teach refresher lessons for those that haven’t ridden in many years.
They can nurture those that may have had bad experiences & wish to regain their confidence in a secure, safe environment. Lessons are available for advanced riders in jumping, dressage & eventing.

We have a 50’ wooden round pen, an arena with great footing & jumps, dressage letters, barrels for barrel racing & an agility course. There are also excellent trails -- lot's of them to enjoy, for those that have the skills to be safe on the trails.

We have many Western & English bridles/saddles of various sizes available for your use, as well as helmets, crops, saddlebags, etc.

Group lessons (usually 2 or 3 students) are $45, for one hour. Private lessons are $45 for a half hour lesson and $90 for a full hour lesson. Once proficient with grooming & tacking, students can arrive half an hour early to groom/tack/warm up before the lesson (and cool down untack, after the lesson is over).

Keli Wakeley began her career riding and training horses in 1997. She currently makes her home in Archer, Florida where she works for Camp Keystone as their Equine Director. Her career began in South Florida where she worked as a farm manager and quickly began riding with local trainers and soon began training and instructing for pleasure and show. DHEC's lesson program is world class. Our philosophy is to provide quality instruction by an experienced trainer with a focus on safety, horsemanship and fun. We offer lessons 6 days a week for both boarders and non-boarders alike. The first lesson will include an evaluation of the rider's level of experience and skill. After this lesson, we will place you into a private lesson or group lesson where you will ride with other students at a similar skill level.

We offer dressage and show jumping lessons plus have a 5-acre cross-country schooling field for eventing. We go to both h/j and eventing shows on a regular basis. Some of the local shows we attend are MSC, POP, Grand Oaks, Majestic Oaks, 3 Lakes, Sweet Dixie South, Barnstaple and Rocking Horse . We also attend rated dressage shows and eventing horse trials throughout Florida and the Southeast.

Specializing in those difficult OTTB's or the well-bred WB's, (we don't breed discriminate here, so bring it on!) From fresh off-the-track to bringing back from rehab or years spent in the pasture, our quality training at DHEC will show you the horse you were meant to ride! For the beginner, DHEC teaches how to tack up and basic horse care and grooming. We believe that taking care of your horse is an important part of the lesson program. Caring for your horse before and after each lesson makes each rider feel more comfortable around horses, teaches responsibility and allows the rider to feel closer to their mount. We start at the very beginning teaching balance as a number one priority.

For the more advanced riders, we offer an extensive lesson program focusing on safety and horsemanship so you can move up to that next level. The program features many school horses, group instruction, and frequent participation in local shows. DHEC provides additional services for the equestrian community, including offering horses both for sale and for lease.

Because the safety of our riders is extremely important, ALL riders must wear a helmet. We provide helmets for riders who do not have their own. Please wear long pants or breeches (jeans are ok). Paddock boots are ideal or a hard-soled boot with a small heel is acceptable (no tennis shoes).

Cara specializes in teaching remotely for dressage enthusiasts near and far. She creates a program curated to each horse and rider’s specific needs including ground work, proper basics and biomechanics and the fundamentals of classical dressage. Lessons are fun, education packed and rewarding. She hosts virtual dressage shows and ride-a-tests for all to join. Cara also has a private group for her students with extra training tips, equestrian yoga and a sense of barn family community.

Cara is a USDF Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalist, Multiple Regional and National Champion and USDF L Program graduate. Cara is a certified professional life coach through UCF. Offering English riding lessons for the novice rider with a budding interest in horses to the accomplished equestrian. We have lesson horses suitable for all levels, safe ponies through horses able to jump 3'courses. We also provide flat work lessons for those wanting to brush up on their riding skills in general. For the younger bunch, generally 7 and under, we offer a "mini" lesson to help get them accustomed to riding in a shorter session focusing half the time on grooming and the other half on riding.
