Fancy Hill Farm, LLC is a lovely horse farm specializing in the hunter/jumper discipline outside Charlottesville. We have created a fun, nurturing and confidence building environment where both rider and horse alike are treated with respect and kindness. We feel that riding is a go at your own pace sport and tailor our lessons to each rider's individual needs and goals. Our boarding is not once size fits all but instead caters to your horse's particular needs. Coach Jeni Platt grew up on horseback on her family farm in Central Virginia where she participated in many equestrian activities. Jeni holds a BA in Psychology and a QMHP certificate in Virginia. She is also a certified Yoga Instructor and B4C Social Emotional Learning Facilitator. At SCS, she is the Operations Manager, Lead Horsemanship Coach, and Equine Specialist.

In our lesson program, students learn about horse behavior, care, grooming, and basic riding skills! We teach "horsemanship style" with an emphasis on safety and self awareness covering various topics, including horse caretaking, handling, and knowledge. There is riding of course but it is not our sole focus. We are always happy to work with any experience level and have fun!

SCS is inspiring the next generation of thinkers and doers through hands-on adventures! All activities are designed to foster critical thinking, socioemotional development, confidence, and teamwork. Classes are taught by a team of instructors with skills including groundwork, riding English and Western, games, confidence building, and more.

Youth ages 5 and up may join us for ninety-minute horsemanship lesson blocks that include both ground and riding instruction. We teach safety, groundwork, equine care and knowledge, equipment maintenance, and horseback riding. All classes are taught with an SEL focused approach and foster personal development. Limited adult lessons may be available, please feel free to reach out and ask!

SCS Equestrian Team tryouts are open to anyone attending horsemanship classes weekly. Travel Team members must attend class a minimum of 2x weekly and are eligible to participate in off-farm events such as trail rides, hunter paces, and horse shows. Ancillary Team members must attend class a minimum of 1x weekly and may participate in on-site team meetings and are eligible to "pick up" ride at horse shows on a case by base basis.... See More

Equus Springs Farm offers lessons in both hunt seat and western pleasure, and are open to beginner through intermediate riders ages 5 and up. Our budget friendly lessons are designed to create a partnership between the horse and rider based on trust and understanding and effective communication. Lessons include grooming, tacking, and other ground skills, along with mounted skills. Our farm has a number of high quality school horses and ponies for all riders regardless of experience, or you may trailer in your own horse for lessons.

Any student that wishes to show may join the ESF Show Team. There is option to be a primary show rider or a pick up, show rider. ESF attends many shows year round. They participate in VHSA and AQHA shows.... See More

Our lessons for beginners include ground time, grooming and tacking instruction. Once young riders are proficient in this process, then lesson time will begin when mounted. All riders need to wear proper riding boots and a safety approved helmet. New riders must have a copy of a current medical insurance card and a signed release waiver on file. Lessons may include mounted exercises as well as theory lessons (unmounted). We ride both in and out of the ring for a well-balanced riding education. Travelling to your barn for lessons and clinics is available. Please call for rates. 24 hour cancellation notice is required.

Hello everyone! Wanted to introduce the new and upcoming English and Western training facility in the heart of Spotslyvania Virgina. We are a work in progress but have BIG goals and need your help to get there! We have now put in our arena! Working on getting a few jumps as well to start with. As of now we are offering the following:

-30/60/90 day horse training program
-Trailer your horse in for lessons
-Working students ( I have a few horses I want to use for lessons but they need some more experienced riders to work them. Lessons are free on these horses!)
