Since 1989 I have specialized in working with youth and amateur riders. I started my career riding Western horses with my speciality being All Around/versatility and Trail (show) . During my college years I delved into the world of showing hunter jumpers and there I would spend the next 20+ years showing and competing. 2020 marked my path back into the Western world.
I operate a small lesson barn with a very minimal number of boarders and minimal number of training horses at any one time. If you are interested in training or tune ups, please be aware there my be a waiting list. Lessons are 45$ per hour for most riders. Walk/trot riders 6-8 $35 (30-45 min) Youth 6 and under (leadline) are 30$/ half hour. As of 2022 we will offer video/remote lessons. With a strong emphasis on safetyand solid basics. "At home" programs/lessons are available so you can work on your owns horse or we can problem solve, standard rate +fuel sur charge (max 20 mile distance) Children with ADD/ADHD and high function autism are welcome as my program can me modified to accommodate their specific needs. Primarily an eventing group we teach the classic principles of jumping and dressage. We involve ourselves yearly in hunter paces, trail rides, beach rides, drag fox hunting, dressage, eventing, and endurance. Our niche is boarding student horses and leasing out school horses for students to learn on, show, or just enjoy. We strive to help our students reach their own personal goals, whatever they may be, and to do what's right for you and your horse! Come join in on the learning and fun! One of the most important things to me as an instructor, besides keeping it safe for rider & horse, is to be able to help build a bond between two very unlikely "creatures".
Only when the horse trusts the rider and the rider is not afraid of the horse can a true partnership begin. Through its basic principles dressage can help with this goal of a true partnership. Whether you are striving to compete at shows, go trail riding, jump or just want to improve your riding, dressage training will help you to communicate better, ride smoother and overall enjoy each other more.
