Four Winds Farm is now offering public riding lessons, both english AND western, for all ages and levels of riders in a family orientated, fun and safe environment!

We offer year round lessons. Students ride once a week, but additional lessons are available. Each lesson is 1 hour. We offer three options; private lessons, semi-private lessons and group lessons (up to 6 riders) morning, afternoon, weeknight and weekend classes are available

We have both indoor and outdoor arenas, lessons are rarely canceled due to weather.

FWF has a great group of horses and ponies for our lessons! Most of them are also available to lease (half or full) depending on the horse.

Our instructors have a very wide background of knowledge and experience in hunters, jumpers, eventing, dressage, western pleasure and much more!

Enjoy and learn all aspects of the horse world, from the basics of horsemanship, such as grooming and tacking, every day care like feeding and barn management,from training to showing and so much more!

Four Winds Farm is the "host facility" for the Prince William Horse Association horse shows. We host 7 english and 7 western shows each season (usually march thru October) and we encourage our students to participate in the shows on one of our horses! There are classes for ALL levels from the Lead Line division on up!

Hard hat, pants and boots with a hard smooth sole and a heel must be worn while riding.

Alexis has always loved horses but didn’t start riding until she asked for lessons at 10 years old. She went to her first shows on a thoroughbred named Trickster who started her adoration for the breed. OTTB’s have a special place in her heart, and she has a lot of fun retraining them.

Her first experiences were in the hunter/equitation ring, competing locally, at rated shows, and on IEA teams. As she gained experience on trail rides and eventually foxhunting, she loved the thrill, and so she found out about more disciplines outside of the ring. That led her to learn about eventing.

Dressage, show jumping, and cross country are her passions, but she loves to guide students to find their own interests. she believes every rider, no matter how experienced, is always learning. Horses teach us so much every day!... See More

Kelsey began riding horses when she was 6 years old, getting her first pony for her 7th birthday. She was a member of The United States Pony Club for 11 years, achieving her C3 rating.

Originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, she spent her childhood traveling across the Midwest for various camps and events. Kelsey has spent many summers living with trainers and working with horses. As she grew as a rider, she began giving lessons and training horses. Kelsey worked with a therapeutic riding program for multiple years, assisting children and adults with various disabilities both on and off horses. She has taught riders of all ages about horsemanship and developing a strong foundation both in and out of the saddle.

Currently Kelsey is a middle school art teacher in Prince William County Schools. She has a passion for education and making learning fun and looks forward to doing the same thing at Silver Eagle Stable.... See More

Sam has been riding horses for 8 years. He started taking lessons but quickly realized it was a passion for him so he began volunteering as help for riding camps. At that point he met an AQHA professional horseman and started riding under him everyday learning everything he could. Sam was one of the Top 100 youth point earners in the nation in 2018 for AQHA Western Pleasure Shows. After some time, he also started training and breaking horses for clients with his mentor’s guidance . He loves how you can learn a lot from a horse and how they responded to different ques if you’re patient and attentive.

Sam is focused in teaching all western disciplines including ranch riding, western pleasure, horsemanship, and trail patterns – which requires riders to have good communication with their horse and all parts of the horse’s body. Kim Yotko is an A.R.I.A. certified instructor in both Hunt Seat and Dressage. She has been teaching since 1976 on our own quality horses and ponies. Kim has quite a comprehensive background in riding. As a junior she rode at the esteemed Jane Dillon's Junior Equitation School, as well as being a member of the United States Pony Club. More recently, Kim Has received further Dressage training in Germany, Portugal, and Spain under the tutelage of world class instructors and Olympians. Coach Jeni Platt grew up on horseback on her family farm in Central Virginia where she participated in many equestrian activities. Jeni holds a BA in Psychology and a QMHP certificate in Virginia. She is also a certified Yoga Instructor and B4C Social Emotional Learning Facilitator. At SCS, she is the Operations Manager, Lead Horsemanship Coach, and Equine Specialist.

In our lesson program, students learn about horse behavior, care, grooming, and basic riding skills! We teach "horsemanship style" with an emphasis on safety and self awareness covering various topics, including horse caretaking, handling, and knowledge. There is riding of course but it is not our sole focus. We are always happy to work with any experience level and have fun!

SCS is inspiring the next generation of thinkers and doers through hands-on adventures! All activities are designed to foster critical thinking, socioemotional development, confidence, and teamwork. Classes are taught by a team of instructors with skills including groundwork, riding English and Western, games, confidence building, and more.

Youth ages 5 and up may join us for ninety-minute horsemanship lesson blocks that include both ground and riding instruction. We teach safety, groundwork, equine care and knowledge, equipment maintenance, and horseback riding. All classes are taught with an SEL focused approach and foster personal development. Limited adult lessons may be available, please feel free to reach out and ask!

SCS Equestrian Team tryouts are open to anyone attending horsemanship classes weekly. Travel Team members must attend class a minimum of 2x weekly and are eligible to participate in off-farm events such as trail rides, hunter paces, and horse shows. Misty Brae Farm is a recognized United States Pony Club Riding Center providing the USPC national curriculum to our students. We offer lessons to children as well as adults of all abilities from beginner to advanced riders. Our indoor arena and lighted outdoor ring allow for year round lessons days, evenings, and weekends. River Chase Farm brings together over 50 years of combined experience in riding instruction and horse shows. Our team of professional instructors provides something for everyone from the serious competitor to the weekend hobbyist . Many of our students compete in the VHSA and USEF horse shows. We offer flexible lesson times at reasonable rates with both private and group lesson options. Students must be at least 5 yrs of age.

Students are expected to arrive in time to groom and tack their horses and to care for the horses when the lessons are finished. For those who are unable to prepare and put their mounts away independently, private or semi-preview lessons are provided.
