Four Winds Farm is signing up new students for lessons! We offer English AND western lessons -including, but not limited to: Hunters, Jumpers, Equitation, Dressage, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, Showmanship ,Trail, Western Dressage.
All ages and all levels welcome! We have an indoor arena and two outdoor arenas, great group of lesson horses and ponies. For the competitive riders we show locally and rated as well as AQHA and Open shows. We are also the host facility for the Prince William Horse Association Horse Shows.
We also offer horses and ponies available for lease and for sale. Boarding available too.

We offer quality instruction on our horse or yours, in both the hunter and jumper disciplines, and coaching from the local through the A levels of competition. We start young horses and give them a good foundation, and "de-programming" ex-racehorses is our specialty. Our school horses are in all shapes, sizes and experience levels, and some are available for lease (leases start @ $200/mo). We always have working student positions available and often times a working boarder position, as well. There are no commitments to sign up for lesson series, and traveling, to you, is an option if you are local. "Ship-ins" are welcome whether it is for a lesson or just to make use of our facility. Terri Young trains horses and teaches riders of all levels. She specializes in bridging the gap between the local Virginia show circuit and US Equestrian Federation-rated shows. Terri grew up competing in equitation and hunters in New Jersey before spending several years working for dressage trainers, including Lendon Gray. After graduating with a degree in business management from Syracuse University, she moved to Germany where she trained and showed jumpers before returning stateside to open her own stable. She is a USEF “r” judge and a member of the USHJA Youth Council. Terri has been accepted to the USHJA Trainer Certification Program and was the winner of "Win a Week with Frank Madden," sponsored by Bates Saddles and Practical Horseman Magazine. Lauren’s family got their first horses when she was 18 months old and she has been heavily involved with them since. Training under world class instructors in the U.S Pony Club, achieving her C3/HB and C3 Dressage, Lauren has trained horses from the first time being haltered to 3rd level dressage. She has experience with severely abused horses, off-the-track racehorses, top level event horses, and everything in between. Lauren has been teaching English style riding since she was a teenager and began training students in Western style in recent years. Lauren’s approach to teaching allows people to find their love of the sport through empathy, correctness, and joy. Taylor is originally from North Carolina. At the age of four, she started riding horses and by age six she was doing low level barrel jackpots to compete at on weekends. Her love for horses stemmed from there and she learned everything she could from anyone and every horse she could ride or work with!

Taylor began training and colt starting around the age of fifteen with the help of her own trainer until she ventured off by herself to start training for various clients. She eventually went on to compete in and out of state state barrel racing competitions until she turned seventeen. At that point, she focused more on training and flipping horses.

Her love is not just for barrel racing, but also for pole bending, trail riding, colt starting, and restart projects! The most gratifying part of Taylor’s passion is not only helping owners/riders build confidence and skill but also their horses. Kelsey began riding horses when she was 6 years old, getting her first pony for her 7th birthday. She was a member of The United States Pony Club for 11 years, achieving her C3 rating.

Originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, she spent her childhood traveling across the Midwest for various camps and events. Kelsey has spent many summers living with trainers and working with horses. As she grew as a rider, she began giving lessons and training horses. Kelsey worked with a therapeutic riding program for multiple years, assisting children and adults with various disabilities both on and off horses. She has taught riders of all ages about horsemanship and developing a strong foundation both in and out of the saddle.

Currently Kelsey is a middle school art teacher in Prince William County Schools. She has a passion for education and making learning fun and looks forward to doing the same thing at Silver Eagle Stable.... See More

Sam has been riding horses for 8 years. He started taking lessons but quickly realized it was a passion for him so he began volunteering as help for riding camps. At that point he met an AQHA professional horseman and started riding under him everyday learning everything he could. Sam was one of the Top 100 youth point earners in the nation in 2018 for AQHA Western Pleasure Shows. After some time, he also started training and breaking horses for clients with his mentor’s guidance . He loves how you can learn a lot from a horse and how they responded to different ques if you’re patient and attentive.

Sam is focused in teaching all western disciplines including ranch riding, western pleasure, horsemanship, and trail patterns – which requires riders to have good communication with their horse and all parts of the horse’s body. Four Winds Farm is now offering public riding lessons, both english AND western, for all ages and levels of riders in a family orientated, fun and safe environment!

We offer year round lessons. Students ride once a week, but additional lessons are available. Each lesson is 1 hour. We offer three options; private lessons, semi-private lessons and group lessons (up to 6 riders) morning, afternoon, weeknight and weekend classes are available

We have both indoor and outdoor arenas, lessons are rarely canceled due to weather.

FWF has a great group of horses and ponies for our lessons! Most of them are also available to lease (half or full) depending on the horse.

Our instructors have a very wide background of knowledge and experience in hunters, jumpers, eventing, dressage, western pleasure and much more!

Enjoy and learn all aspects of the horse world, from the basics of horsemanship, such as grooming and tacking, every day care like feeding and barn management,from training to showing and so much more!

Four Winds Farm is the "host facility" for the Prince William Horse Association horse shows. We host 7 english and 7 western shows each season (usually march thru October) and we encourage our students to participate in the shows on one of our horses! There are classes for ALL levels from the Lead Line division on up!

Hard hat, pants and boots with a hard smooth sole and a heel must be worn while riding.

I have been teaching riding lessons since I was 16 years old and have taken a year’s hiatus from teaching to focus on my career. I am now ready to start teaching again. I am looking to teach people on their own mounts, though would consider a limited number of clients to ride my (wonderful) mare.
I am fully educated to instruct riding lessons, as I graduated with a degree in Recreation and Leisure with a concentration in Equine Studies from Houghton College. The focus of my equine studies was not only in horsemanship and barn management, but in teaching. My studies included becoming a level 4 CHA Certified Riding Instructor (the highest attainable level for one discipline), clinics with Olympic coaches and a course on educational psychology. The greatest value I received from my education was not becoming a better rider, but that I became a teacher.
I have the ability to instruct riders of all levels and all ages. I also have experience working with those who need some confidence building. My focus is always on partnership with the horse and how our bodies relate to the horses. I develop programs and exercises based on each riders needs in order to achieve success. My goal is for each lesson to build upon the last, for my student to take something away from each lesson, and to make it all FUN!
I have been riding since the age of 3, and began serious instruction at the age of 8. My base of knowledge all stems from classical dressage and branches into hunters, jumpers, eventing, and some western. I have ridden not only with Olympic coach Walter Zettl, but also with Olympic rider Chris Kappler. When I moved to Virginia I was a working student for an Advanced level eventer. This experience allowed me to have coaching from her, as well as be present when she was having lessons from greats such as Jimmy Wofford.
My extensive riding background and my education in teaching and how people learn equips me with the tools to be an excellent instructor. My outgoing, energetic personality draws students into learning and puts them at ease.
