Couderay Springs Farm offers horseback riding lessons for all ages and all levels of riders. We specialize in well rounded English lessons that are safe, fun, and educational. Our goal is to teach the rider to become a partner with their horse and fully understand him at all levels. We provide individual and small group (2-3 people) lessons and have an excellent crew of lesson horses of varying abilities. Additionally, we provide partial and full leases to people in our lesson program and also gladly accept ship ins. Our facility has over 50 acres 20 min south of Charlottesville, which include a sand ring with hunter/jumper jumps, a center aisle barn with tack room and bathroom, and trails that wind around the property.

Over 25 years of experience support our philosophies and we truly believe that one is always learning. The main instructor has studied with top riders both locally and abroad, in many different disciplines including hunters, jumpers, eventing, dressage, driving, and western. She has studied at UVA and has a Masters in Teaching and is a certified Special Ed Instructor of Emotionally Disturbed and Learning Disabled children. Our lessons for beginners include ground time, grooming and tacking instruction. Once young riders are proficient in this process, then lesson time will begin when mounted. All riders need to wear proper riding boots and a safety approved helmet. New riders must have a copy of a current medical insurance card and a signed release waiver on file. Lessons may include mounted exercises as well as theory lessons (unmounted). We ride both in and out of the ring for a well-balanced riding education. Travelling to your barn for lessons and clinics is available. Please call for rates. 24 hour cancellation notice is required.
