Formally CK Performance Horses, we specialize in working with you and your horse as a team and or matching you with the right horse. We also work with beginner riders and riders at higher levels, showing in Paint or Quarter Horse shows. We enjoy hosting pony parties and riding camps for children who haven't had the opportunity to have horses in their lives.
We also break and train horses for show or trail riding and start barrel horses. At PLEM we only have one or two spots available to a child or adult with previous or current riding experience and if they are interested in showing in local (inexpensive) shows in our area it is a plus! Our riding lessons include English on the flat and hunter/jumper. This includes teaching proper horse handling, grooming, tacking, barn maintenance, equine anatomy and vocabulary, as well as equine vet and health care. Teaching proper horsemanship not only prepares our students for horse ownership, but also teaches the life lessons of hard work, responsibility and the importance of caring for animals. We train riders and horses to work together so they have fun and are safe. Fun and Safety are our goals. We also have several lease or partial lease options available depending on experience and riding preference.

We strongly believe in teaching our students how to safely, effectively, and clearly communicate with their horses in the saddle and on the ground, and to take responsibility for the horses they ride, treating them with kindness, consideration, and respect.

Lessons include instruction on grooming, tacking-up, horse care and management. We also have a under cover arena so weather does not "normally" affect the lesson schedule, and it helps from the hot summer heat to keep us cool and on rainy days.

In the saddle, students focus on developing balance and using their weight ("seat") to communicate with the horse. Students use the escalation of aids to obtain the softest response from their horse with the least amount of pressure. Braeside Farm is a private facility located in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Our instructors offer help in both jumping lessons, as well as basic riding lessons.
