Canopy Oak Trails offers horseback riding
instruction for all levels of riders, from beginner to advanced, western or English. We are fortunate to have several excellent riding instructors, who love teaching beginners & kids. They also teach refresher lessons for those that haven’t ridden in many years.
They can nurture those that may have had bad experiences & wish to regain their confidence in a secure, safe environment. Lessons are available for advanced riders in jumping, dressage & eventing.

We have a 50’ wooden round pen, an arena with great footing & jumps, dressage letters, barrels for barrel racing & an agility course. There are also excellent trails -- lot's of them to enjoy, for those that have the skills to be safe on the trails.

We have many Western & English bridles/saddles of various sizes available for your use, as well as helmets, crops, saddlebags, etc.

Group lessons (usually 2 or 3 students) are $45, for one hour. Private lessons are $45 for a half hour lesson and $90 for a full hour lesson. Once proficient with grooming & tacking, students can arrive half an hour early to groom/tack/warm up before the lesson (and cool down untack, after the lesson is over).

DHEC's lesson program is world class. Our philosophy is to provide quality instruction by an experienced trainer with a focus on safety, horsemanship and fun. We offer lessons 6 days a week for both boarders and non-boarders alike. The first lesson will include an evaluation of the rider's level of experience and skill. After this lesson, we will place you into a private lesson or group lesson where you will ride with other students at a similar skill level.

We offer dressage and show jumping lessons plus have a 5-acre cross-country schooling field for eventing. We go to both h/j and eventing shows on a regular basis. Some of the local shows we attend are MSC, POP, Grand Oaks, Majestic Oaks, 3 Lakes, Sweet Dixie South, Barnstaple and Rocking Horse . We also attend rated dressage shows and eventing horse trials throughout Florida and the Southeast.

Specializing in those difficult OTTB's or the well-bred WB's, (we don't breed discriminate here, so bring it on!) From fresh off-the-track to bringing back from rehab or years spent in the pasture, our quality training at DHEC will show you the horse you were meant to ride! All horses and their owners become family at Dream Horse Equestrian Center, and we look forward to meeting you and your 4-legged partner, and strive to help you reach your goals!

For the beginner, DHEC teaches how to tack up and basic horse care and grooming. We believe that taking care of your horse is an important part of the lesson program. Caring for your horse before and after each lesson makes each rider feel more comfortable around horses, teaches responsibility and allows the rider to feel closer to their mount. We start at the very beginning teaching balance as a number one priority.

For the more advanced riders, we offer an extensive lesson program focusing on safety and horsemanship so you can move up to that next level. The program features many school horses, group instruction, and frequent participation in local shows. DHEC provides additional services for the equestrian community, including offering horses both for sale and for lease.

Because the safety of our riders is extremely important, ALL riders must wear a helmet. We provide helmets for riders who do not have their own. Please wear long pants or breeches (jeans are ok). Paddock boots are ideal or a hard-soled boot with a small heel is acceptable (no tennis shoes).

Cara specializes in teaching remotely for dressage enthusiasts near and far. She creates a program curated to each horse and rider’s specific needs including ground work, proper basics and biomechanics and the fundamentals of classical dressage. Lessons are fun, education packed and rewarding. She hosts virtual dressage shows and ride-a-tests for all to join. Cara also has a private group for her students with extra training tips, equestrian yoga and a sense of barn family community.

Cara is a USDF Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalist, Multiple Regional and National Champion and USDF L Program graduate. Cara is a certified professional life coach through UCF. She is also certified in yoga, breath work, mindfulness and meditation so that she can better help students with their nerves, confidence and biomechanics.

Anna is a 21 year old dressage trainer from Michigan. The past few years Anna has spent the summers in MI and the winters down here in Ocala. She brings client horses back and fourth as well as sale horses. Anna trained Unico G from a naughty 6y/o to preparation for the GP this year in a little over 3 years. Unico and Anna have come through the levels together training level through I-2 with an impressive record. They have own a few regional championships and qualified at each level through I-2 to compete. Anna also has another FEI horse Fidelio LHF who has successfully shown PSG and I-1 this summer with scores up to 69 at PSG and I-1. In addition, Anna rides for and trains with Belinda Nairn. Keli Wakeley began her career riding and training horses in 1997. She currently makes her home in Archer, Florida where she works for Camp Keystone as their Equine Director. Her career began in South Florida where she worked as a farm manager and quickly began riding with local trainers and soon began training and instructing for pleasure and show. In 2000 Keli was certified with the CHA for english and western disciplines and continued a freelance career riding, training and showing focusing on western pleasure, competitive trail, horsemanship, hunter under saddle, and equitation. After working as a veterinary technician for some time she then accepted a position with Camp Keystone and continues to freelance riding instruction and training in the north Florida area. With 15 years of owning and riding horses, and 3 years of teaching, Amanda offers quality English horse back riding lessons at very affordable rates. Lessons are given to riders of all ages, from age 4-adults, and to riders of levels from beginners to advanced! Amanda specializes in Hunter/Jumpers, and puts an emphasis on proper English Equitation. Lessons also offer the opportunity for miles of trail rides and pleasure riding. For riders who wish to pursue the world of Showing, coaching is available as well as show preparation and assistance in transporting horses to shows. Offering English riding lessons for the novice rider with a budding interest in horses to the accomplished equestrian. We have lesson horses suitable for all levels, safe ponies through horses able to jump 3'courses. We also provide flat work lessons for those wanting to brush up on their riding skills in general.
