On nice days there's nothing better than riding outside in either our round pen (great for beginners), riding ring and track (ideal for driving lessons).

I am a USDF Silver Medalist and have had the opportunity to train horses from birth through Grand Prix dressage and everything in between. I have been training horses for over 15 years and have worked with a USDF Gold Medalist and "R" judge for over 10 years. I have successfully started many young horses under-saddle, and have had the privilege to bring several of them past Fourth Level so far, scoring in the 70's at every level along the way.. Most notably training the imported German Warmblood stallion Blue Eyed Dream GF from a gangly three year old to competing together in Intermediare-1 dressage with scores as high as 76%, I have worked with many different trainers throughout the years and look forward to sharing my knowledge with the horse community in the central florida area and beyond. DHEC's lesson program is world class. Our philosophy is to provide quality instruction by an experienced trainer with a focus on safety, horsemanship and fun. We offer lessons 6 days a week for both boarders and non-boarders alike. The first lesson will include an evaluation of the rider's level of experience and skill. After this lesson, we will place you into a private lesson or group lesson where you will ride with other students at a similar skill level.

We offer dressage and show jumping lessons plus have a 5-acre cross-country schooling field for eventing. We go to both h/j and eventing shows on a regular basis. Some of the local shows we attend are MSC, POP, Grand Oaks, Majestic Oaks, 3 Lakes, Sweet Dixie South, Barnstaple and Rocking Horse . We also attend rated dressage shows and eventing horse trials throughout Florida and the Southeast.

Specializing in those difficult OTTB's or the well-bred WB's, (we don't breed discriminate here, so bring it on!) From fresh off-the-track to bringing back from rehab or years spent in the pasture, our quality training at DHEC will show you the horse you were meant to ride! All horses and their owners become family at Dream Horse Equestrian Center, and we look forward to meeting you and your 4-legged partner, and strive to help you reach your goals!

For the beginner, DHEC teaches how to tack up and basic horse care and grooming. We believe that taking care of your horse is an important part of the lesson program. Caring for your horse before and after each lesson makes each rider feel more comfortable around horses, teaches responsibility and allows the rider to feel closer to their mount. We start at the very beginning teaching balance as a number one priority.

For the more advanced riders, we offer an extensive lesson program focusing on safety and horsemanship so you can move up to that next level. The program features many school horses, group instruction, and frequent participation in local shows. DHEC provides additional services for the equestrian community, including offering horses both for sale and for lease.

Because the safety of our riders is extremely important, ALL riders must wear a helmet. We provide helmets for riders who do not have their own. Please wear long pants or breeches (jeans are ok). Paddock boots are ideal or a hard-soled boot with a small heel is acceptable (no tennis shoes).

Cara specializes in teaching remotely for dressage enthusiasts near and far. She creates a program curated to each horse and rider’s specific needs including ground work, proper basics and biomechanics and the fundamentals of classical dressage. Lessons are fun, education packed and rewarding. She hosts virtual dressage shows and ride-a-tests for all to join. Cara also has a private group for her students with extra training tips, equestrian yoga and a sense of barn family community.

Cara is a USDF Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalist, Multiple Regional and National Champion and USDF L Program graduate. Cara is a certified professional life coach through UCF. She is also certified in yoga, breath work, mindfulness and meditation so that she can better help students with their nerves, confidence and biomechanics.
