The farm is less than 1 mile away from Walmart Shopping Center, 3 miles away from Bowie Town Center, less than 20 minutes driving distance to Annapolis, about 30 minutes to Fort Meade, less than 40 minutes driving distance to Washington DC and about 45 minutes to Baltimore. You can also take New Carrollton Amtrak, or Green Belt metro station to Washington DC or many other places. Merkel Farm is nestled between Bowie State University and the Patuxent Wildlife Preserve in Bowie, MD and is within easy reach from the Washington D.C., Annapolis and Baltimore metro areas. We have miles of trails surrounding the property. We also have a lighted indoor and outdoor ring which allows for boarders and lesson students to ride year round. AOPF Stables is a fabulous 82 acres full service boarding and training facility. The farm has facilities for everything from starting colts to developing advanced high level horses: round pen, indoor and 2 outdoor arenas for flat work and jumping, a cross country course including a water complex and even 12 acres of woods for trail riding, and access to miles of trails in the beautiful Greenspring Valley hunt country.
We grow and bale our own hay, both for round bales in winter and everyday feed square bales.
Our large paddocks turn out, accommodate 4-5 horses and provide ample grass for them to graze on. We place pride in favoring herd turn out, for as many hours as weather and seasons permit.

Skyline Training Stables is a small lesson, training and boarding facility located about 1 mile from Rt. 30 North, in quiet Hampstead, Maryland. We have our own lesson horses, or you can trailer your horse in. Negative Coggins required. Amenities: We have both an indoor ring that is approximately 65 x 160, and an outdoor sand ring that is approximately 110 x 225. A finished, heated tack room is available, wash stall with h/c water, and 10 x 10 matted stalls. 4 spacious grass fields with small herd turn out. The stalls are picked and cleaned daily and high quality hay and feed is fed, with each horse's diet custom designed with care. Water buckets are dumped and cleaned daily. Board includes feed, hay, stall cleaning, turn in/out, fly masks and blankets/sheets put on/changed as needed, determined by weather, not convenience. Scheduling vet, farrier, and dental appointments is included in the board. Payment for vet, farrier, dental, hauling and *horse shows is due at time of service.
