Owner Leslie Deering has been training and teaching for nearly 30 years. She herself trained with an Olympic gold medalist. Leslie's students have become A pony clubbers and Advanced level three day event riders. Leslie also enjoys getting horses and riders out fox chasing safely and with confidence. Lucas Farms provides professional full care board, as well as full care field board. We are a quiet luxury facility, located just minutes from downtown Chestertown. Along with our custom built 14 stall barn, we provide 2 hot/cold wash stalls, 6 paddocks, outdoor all weather footed arena, free style cross country course, and trails leading to public land. Our barn is climate controlled, with cushioned flooring in our isle way and wash stalls. We are equipped with an automatic fly spray system to keep flies at a minimum in our barn, as well as 24/7 surveillance in which boarders can have access to their horses stall specifically for a small fee. Our stalls are matted, 4 stalls being double stalls, along with having automatic water systems cleaned daily.

Catering to the rider we provide a heated tack room, storage for blankets, and fly gear. A washer and dryer, full bathroom, as well as a break room that looks out to the outdoor arena.

Our fields are picked daily to ensure cleanliness and horse safety. Lucas Farms provides Triple Crown feeds and balancers however we always our boarders to provide their own feed. The facility also provides a choice between alfalfa and Timothy hay.

AOPF Stables is a fabulous 82 acres full service boarding and training facility. The farm has facilities for everything from starting colts to developing advanced high level horses: round pen, indoor and 2 outdoor arenas for flat work and jumping, a cross country course including a water complex and even 12 acres of woods for trail riding, and access to miles of trails in the beautiful Greenspring Valley hunt country.
We grow and bale our own hay, both for round bales in winter and everyday feed square bales.
Our large paddocks turn out, accommodate 4-5 horses and provide ample grass for them to graze on. We place pride in favoring herd turn out, for as many hours as weather and seasons permit.

Smithwick Farm is nearly 100 acres professional horse farm where four of our trained race horses were inducted into the TB Hall of Fame. We offer field board, self-care full field care (we grain horses), and limited full board. Field care is $100/ ponies and $125/ horses per month, and the self-care is $200 per month. Full field board is $300 per month, and the full board is $500 per month. There is a 5/8, grass breezing area and an advanced timber jumping course.
