Steeped in history and blanketed with ancient oaks, Nelson Jones Training Center was once part of the 915-acre farm of the late two-time Eclipse Award-winning owner Fred Hooper, who won the 1945 Kentucky Derby with Hoop Jr. and campaigned such horses as homebred national champions Susan’s Girl and Precisionist.

Our new farm is located in Dunnellon just 5 minutes away from rainbow springs, 15 minutes from HITS, 20 minutes from WEC, 30 minutes to Ocala, 30 minutes to Crystal River and 45 minutes to Gainesville. We are also close to many different state parks great for trail riding! We are on a 40 acre facility and in the process of putting up all brand new fencing, shelters in each pasture with misters for non sweaters in these crucial summer months, arena, round pen, nice center isle barn, and more!! We also have a pond that is safe for swimming your horses in.

We may not be the cheapest around or have our facility completely finished yet but we can guarantee the care, respect and loyalty you and your horse will receive will be worth it. Exercise: A 60-foot European Hot Walker is available with six stalls for periodic exercise; from walk to canter, for approximately 20-minute sessions. Cottonwood Equestrian Center in Lithia is offering spacious stalls (most 13' x 14' or 12' x 14) for $500 full stall board. Full board includes day or night turn out, rotational deworming every other month, custom feed program, blanketing and unblanketing in winter months and we are happy to fly spray before turn out if you leave your fly spray bottle on the blanket bar on the stall. We use slow feed hay nets to ensure everything is eaten instead of walked into the bedding. The barn is equipped with a bathroom (shower to follow) as well as a small refrigerator and microwave for your convenience. Additionally, the very roomy tack room is climate-controlled, has an equine meds refrigerator and there is plenty of storage for belongings. There are multiple surveillance cameras in the barn in addition to what is already on the property. Beautiful, quiet 10-acre property has a 70-foot round pen, two riding pastures, one with a dressage area and the other with a full jump course, grass turn outs, spacious hacking path with cross-country jumps and a future plan for competitive trail course.
